Pull-Tight Board of Directors President Lynda Gibbs

I hope you all were able to see Pull-Tight’s last production, Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. It was a stunning drama, beautifully created by Daryle Tallent and her incredible cast and crew. It literally left audiences sitting on the edges of their seats as they were completely engaged from one scene to the next. We thank them all for a job well done.

Opening December 2 is Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. JT Landry and his very talented cast and crew are hard at work bringing this beloved story to life with our own special holiday touches. Join us as we step into the pages of this classic fairy tale, wicked stepmother and all! Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. November 21.

It was wonderful to see so many of our Artist Members at our Fall meeting in October. Thanks again to Beth and Woody Woodruff for so graciously offering their home for the get-together. Thanks too to Leslie Berra for all the organizing and delicious food!

As we reflect on our many blessings, especially this time of year, the Board of Directors and I want to thank you for your extraordinary support. We wish you all a season filled with the love and warmth of family, friends and community. See you at the theater!

Let me just begin by saying, the play that went right! Well, sort of.

What a fabulous way to open our 54th season. Kudos to Sarah Keiffner and her cast and crew for the delightful production of The Play that Goes Wrong. I heard so many comments and raucous laughter all around me as the audience went on this crazy ride with this dedicated cast and crew. It was terrific fun and we thank you.

Next up is the Arthur Miller play, All My Sons. Daryle Talent and her cast and crew are hard at work to bring this incredible, taut drama to the Pull-Tight stage. Tickets go on sale on September 19, and the show opens on September 30. This was Arthur Miller’s first success as a playwright and was written at a particularly tumultuous time in our nation’s history. Daryle and I were both cast in Pull-Tight’s 2001 production. It is very dear to both our hearts.

Speaking of our hearts, the Pull-Tight community was very saddened to hear of the unexpected death of our founder, Vance Ormes. It took a particularly creative, determined young individual to bring us into existence, which was quite a feat for a then 16 year old. The foundation upon which we have since built was largely due to the dedication and commitment he instilled in others. He will be missed.

As fall descends, stay well, and thank you all for your continued support. See you at the theater!

President’s Blog – July 2022

July 10, 2022

It’s hard to believe we are about to begin our 54th season at Pull-Tight. These past few years have been very difficult for the world, quite frankly, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped us stay on track, from the Board of Directors to our committee members, our volunteers, and of course our dedicated patrons. It was certainly all of us pulling together as a community that helped us weather the storm.

I hope you all got to see our last production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. It was such a fun experience, and we thank JK Gregg and her very talented cast and crew for delighting us all! Click HERE to enjoy photos from the show.

In addition, kudos to Leslie Berra and Jeanne Drone, co-chairs of this year’s Knot Awards Banquet. It was quite simply a ball! Thank you again to all the entertainers, presenters, and volunteers who helped make the evening a resounding success! Click HERE for a recap of our fun evening and to see this year’s award winners.

Next up is The Play that Goes Wrong. It will be as much fun as its sounds! Sarah Kieffner and her cast and crew are hard at work to bring us this incredibly funny show. The Box Office opens on July 18 and the show opens on July 29.

Again, we are so grateful to live in the community we do and to enjoy such enormous support from you all. See you at the theater!

The President’s Blog – November 2021

Carmela Hofstee

Have you been wondering what’s happening at Pull-Tight Players? Well, with a heart full of hope for the holiday season, I’m excited to say that our theatre has a few things in the works!

First, thank you to Claudia Finnegan for adding lovely fall décor to our Pull-Tight Theater sign and front doors. It certainly gives a wonderful seasonal feel to our little theater.

Theatre Fall 2021

In case you missed our annual Fall Artist Membership Meeting on Sunday, October 24 at Pull-Tight, artist members were welcomed to come and discuss updates on past, current, and upcoming activities for our theatre. Attendees were reminded of our recent postponement of The Curious Savage that was slated to open in December 2021. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show was postponed and existing ticketholders from the past season would have their tickets converted to gift certificates. If you have any questions regarding your converted tickets, please contact the Box Office at tickets@pull-tight.com.

It was also announced at the meeting that the 2020-2021 Board of Directors acknowledged two valuable artist members by making them Lifetime Voting Members for Pull-Tight Players. Peggy Macpherson and John Davis were both recognized for their extensive contributions and accomplishments through the decades with Pull-Tight. Learn more about Peggy and John.

Now for thrilling news on our next production, Crimes of the Heart directed by Cindy Davis Massey. Auditions are scheduled for Monday, December 13, and Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 7 p.m. Audition forms, script sides, and COVID-19 safety guidelines are available online. Performance dates are February 4-5, 9-12, and 16-19 at 7:30 p.m.; and February 6 and 13 at 2:30 p.m. Stay tuned for ticket information in January.

Crimes of the Heart at Pull-Tight Players

Finally, the holiday season is fast approaching. We will hold our Annual Christmas Party at the Pull-Tight Theater! Join us on Sunday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m. for a fun evening of refreshments, keepsake photos, and festivities. There will be a “Mystery Holiday Ornament Exchange.” Please bring a WRAPPED ornament to add to the gift pile if you would like to participate. Masks will be required to be worn while in the theater except when eating or drinking. Please email Carmela Hofstee if you plan to attend.

We will also decorate the theater the day before on Saturday, December 18. If you’re interested in helping, please email Carmela Hofstee. We’d love the help to trim our theater with tons of festive holiday décor!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I hope to see you at auditions on December 13 & 14!

Happy Fall, Y’all! Along with the season changing into Autumn, so does the leadership of Pull-Tight Players. As I step up to the role of President of Pull-Tight Players’ Board of Directors, I look with enormous appreciation at the wonderful support that our patrons and volunteers continue to give our theatre.

Unfortunately, the decision to cancel the performance of The Real Inspector Hound was a difficult one based on current pandemic conditions and considerations for the safety of our audiences. All patrons who previously purchased tickets for this show have been contacted with regards to their options. However, if you need additional information regarding your cancelled tickets, please email our Box Office at tickets@pull-tight.com.

In case you missed it, due to unforeseen circumstances and out of an abundance of caution for the current COVID-19 situation, the Pull-Tight Board of Directors has postponed the production of The Curious Savage from its original December 2021 schedule to a future season. Our 2019-2020 season ticket holders who previously had tickets for this show will receive future contact regarding their options. We hope to return to our mainstage season with Crimes of the Heart in February 2022.

In the meantime, the Board of Directors was hard at work tidying our little theater! It sure got dusty after many months of minimal occupancy, so we decided to give it a bit of shine to keep it glowing! And with a cleanout of our stored concessions, we learned that unopened Diet Coke does go bad after 17 months.

Be on the lookout for details for our Annual Fall Membership Meeting on Sunday, October 24. I hope to see you then!
