Audition Requirements

Please prepare a short, comedic monologue.

We seek a creative crew, open to gender swapping roles and diversity. All roles require CREATIVE CHOICES and GREAT COMIC INSTINCTS, great physical comedic ability, various dialects – and a great capacity for fearless, razor-sharp, melodramatic comedy. Additional sides will be provided during audition. We are seeking five individuals of any age and any ethnicity to play many different roles.

Headshots and resumes are helpful, but not required. Feel free to download, print, complete, and bring our Audition Form with you; however, copies will also be provided at auditions.

Character Breakdown

COUNT DRACULA – male, late 20’s-30s: Transylvanian, hugely sexy, magnetically handsome, rock star like PRINCE presence with a killer body. Total narcissist. Ironically lonely. He travels to Whitby to find his obsession, Lucy, steal her from Jonathan, and make her his bride for eternity.

ACTOR ONE – male, late 20’s-30s: Small, unassuming; plays the following roles and many others:
JONATHAN HARKER: Royal British male, prim and proper and obsessive-compulsive real estate agent, frightened of his own shadow. Engaged to his childhood crush, Lucy Westfeldt. Once bitten, he loosens up…a lot…and becomes a Tom Jones style rock star in leather pants.
THREE SUITORS: Scottish, Uppity British, US Cowboy, all male – Lord Cavendish, Lord Windsor and Lord Havemercy. Simultaneously as performer, will operate a 3-headed puppet.
BOSUN: Irish male – A scurvy sailor who goes down with the ship in a storm.
GRAVEDIGGER: Cockney male – A drunk gravedigger with a secret.

ACTOR TWO – all genders, late 40’s-70s:
DR. WESTFELDT: Royal British male – Lucy and Mina’s Father, a misogynist blowhard; self-important and given to proclamations.
RENFIELD: Cockney male – Insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs. He’s nuts.
CAPTAIN: Sea captain dialect, male – The scurvy, salty captain of a doomed ship caught in a raging storm.

ACTOR THREE – female, 20’s-30s:
LUCY WESTFELDT: Royal British female – Brilliant, plucky earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt. Full of energy and the spirit of adventure. Underestimated. Engaged to Jonathan, but when Dracula moves to Whitby, she is captivated by his exotic European ways – their shared interests – and his shirtless torso. When her sister is bitten by Dracula, she courageously joins the cause.
KITTY: Cockney female – An elderly, dotty kleptomaniac patient of Dr. Westfeldt’s, she serves as a maid in his house. Think a less intelligent Mrs. Lovett.
DRIVER: Bela Lugosi type male – A Transylvanian male Uber-driver, part Mel Brooks, part Borat.

ACTOR FOUR – all genders, late 30’s-50s:
MINA WESTFELDT: Royal British female – The oft overlooked Westfeldt daughter. She has always lived in her sister Lucy’s shadow and is quite desperate for attention. Immediately receptive to Dracula’s charms, she falls under his spell, succumbing to his curse.
JEAN VAN HELSING: German female – German Doctor of Rare Infectious Diseases from the University of Schmutz, she is disciplined, scientific, humorless, stern and no-nonsense.
