Auditions

Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)
Sunday-Monday, October 10-11 at 6:30pm
Otey Hall at St Paul's

Roles: 3 men, 2 women; ages 18-40.

Characters: The actors will be playing a variety of roles, probably somewhere between 8-12 each, ranging from Ebenezer Scrooge to The Grinch to the Peanuts gang. But mostly, the actors will be playing themselves in a comically misguided attempt to portray all of these characters in an hour and a half. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and some brief improv work. Performance dates are December 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18. Contact director Wade Woodruff for more information at (615) 480-3899, or woodruffw@gmail.com.

Specifically need an African-American actress. See character descriptions below:

Sister Aloysius - fifties/sixties. Head nun and longstanding principal of St. Nicholas School. She is watchful, reserved, and unsentimental. Does not care for Father Flynn's new ideas for the church.

Father Flynn - late thirties. He is the new priest at St. Nicholas. Working class and compassionate. Father Flynn is well-liked, more progressive than Sister Aloysius and feels the church should be more friendly and welcoming to the community.

Sister James - twenties. A young nun. An enthusiastic, young eighth grade teacher at St. Nicholas. She has a sunny disposition, cares deeply for her students, and wants to think the best of everyone.

Mrs. Muller - mid to late thirties, African-Amercian. A working class woman who is well acquainted with the harsh realities of life, she is the mother of Donald Muller, the first black student to attend St. Nicholas. She loves her son and is fiercely protective of him.
